Act like an Icon

Act like an Icon

How to master your world by roleplaying your heroes

What is it?

We all wear masks every day – our work persona versus our home persona, etc. This is a normal and natural way of adapting to our situations. So why shouldn’t we do this more? And why couldn’t we adopt the personas of successful people when we need them?

Act like an Icon provides character studies of iconic personalities that you can use to expand your repertoire of behaviors in a fun and intuitive manner.  You can channel Oprah, Warren Buffett, Nelson Mandela and many others whenever you need new insights. Best of all – imitating and imagining are second nature to us so it requires no learning curve.

Difficult conversations

Honest and open communication is at the core of everything we do. Yet, in workplaces, hidden agendas, posturing, protecting your ego, fitting in all get in the way. By adopting a persona to speak for you, you can circumvent all the obstacles to honest conversations. By asking, “What would Oprah do?”, you immediately depersonalize the dialogue and become open to alternate ways of thinking.

Innovation

“We cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them.”― Albert Einstein

Adopting a new persona makes it easy to let go of strongly held beliefs and momentarily adopt new ones, automatically opening you up to new ways of thinking.

Team building

Teams can use the profiles in all stages of team development – to assess the personality types and working styles on the team, ascertain the team’s blind spots, and brainstorm more creatively. This simple method can replace multiple instruments and requires little to no training.

Skill building

Individuals simply choose which character exhibits the behavior they want to learn and then they imitate it.  Coaching and feedback become easier because they focus on mastery of the character rather than personal strengths and weaknesses.

Personal Development

Based on the finding from behavioral psychology that much of human behavior is rooted in the subconscious, Act like a Leader uses people’s innate abilities to pretend, imitate, and understand stories to enact change. We believe this method is more effective and easier to use than logical models and processes. Quite simply, you will learn new behaviors by acting like or role-playing someone else.  Traditional role-playing entails learners being themselves while pretending to be in a phony situation while our role-playing entails pretending to think like someone else in your real situation.
